#73: It's Not Always My Greatest Day

R E M I N D E R.... There is no such thing as a bad emotion. Whatever you are feeling, your body and mind are communicating with you. Listen closely, embrace the emotion, and develop a plan to respond and express in a healthy manner. Here are some common lies depression tells us: - Depression is reality - Talking about it won’t help - There is no hope - I am a bad person - I will never feel any better - There is something wrong with me - It can’t get any worse - There is nothing I can do to feel better. The truth is, Your identity is not based on your feelings and although depression rates continues to rise, there are plenty of things you can do about it. Your life does matter and there is hope. Managing the symptoms of depression can be easier when working with a trained and trusted professional. Here are a few things that you can also do to help increase your mental wellness. 1. Reach out and stay connected. 2. Do things that make you feel good. 3. Get plenty of rest when able. 4. Push yourself to stay active. The quickest way to change your psychological state is to change your physiological state. 5. Chase the sun and keep your body filled with nutrients. 6. Challenge your negative thinking. Speak hope, love, and gratitude into your day even though you may not totally believe it in the moment. Remember you’ve felt this way before and you’ve survived and come out of it 100% of the time and you can do it again. Yes it is hard AND it is possible! The 'Greatest Day' mindset is a lifestyle; a way of living every moment of every day with a positive attitude. It is choosing to be happy and live life with energy no matter your circumstances.
